Will probably get some down votes but I always pay my way in anything I do, just fair play. I have no issues paying $10 a day that goes towards covering expenses. But now that I no longer support the WTBTS in any way shape or form they get none of it, simple. But the underhanded income - deficit statements they would announce always struck me as manipulative because well, they are.

$10 per pub. Money begging session last night
by StarTrekAngel inlast night, during our "christian life and ministry" meeting, we had a session on local needs.
elder opened the talk with a disclaimer saying that this was a reminder (cited psalms about how david loved jehovahs reminders).
he reminded us of how bless we are of having our own local assembly hall.

I enjoyed the third edition ( only one I read ) That said I find he could of done a better job bringing it up to date ass there are some passages that seem stuck in a time warp. Nonetheless a very good source of information well presented factually. A must read for deprogramming. -

"Even if it isn't the truth, it's still the best way to live"
by Simon inhave you heard that old chestnut?
i have.. typically it's the last resort when you have dismantled a jws beliefs and they have no way of defending them.
they know they are beat so they come out with that one.. its effectively an admission that you are right and they have no argument but they are still going to attend meetings because they like the social club.. what a lame way to defend your faith..

I've mentioned this here before and I find it quite typical now that I'm up to speed on all things JW and TTATT.
Met a DF'ed bro through some friends say 20 years ago and the bro ( long back in for family and money in the pipe ) was astounded that a single then thirty something male didn't have a revolving carousel of loose women in and out of his house, that I didn't hit the strip clubs on aregular basis, that I had sound finances through hard honest work and not get rich quick schemes and that I was alcohol and drug free and had high moral standards all whilst being a generally good person with some Bible based knowledge.
Quite funny, and sad

When you Go to Bethel, You Sign Over Your Dead Body.
by new boy inthis is in response to the thread about the supposed suicide of a bethelite in 1995.. when i went to bethel i and everyone else, signed a form stating that "if we died while at bethel the wathtower bible and tract society, had the right to keep our body.".
yes, we thought it strange at the time but as a twenty years old you didn't think much about stuff like that.
besides we were never going to die anyway.

All about money and protecting their interests. Shameless legalistic evil cult. RIP Jimmy.
Thanks for posting this Keith.

My Bthel Experince Part 19 The Last Chapter..(really) Bethel Overseers
by new boy inthere were other people who either killed themselves or tried to kill themselves while they were at "the house of god.
one person who did kill himself was richard wheelock, press room overseer ......he jumped out of a window at the watchtower farm one day.
it seemed, he was never quite the same after his wife "willy" died.

Hi newboy, I am going to have a good read of your experience from start to finish. It looks fascinating- and gives a good insight into bethel life. Regards TEFor sure, Keith series were the turning point to my leaving the Borg ! I've passed them on to friends often. -

A possible reason why the GB are becoming more demanding as things worsen
by Listener inbasically because they feel they are not being blessed.. this is not to say that all gb members feel this way.
the power hungry ones love getting the whip out.
the other members incorrectly look to the old testament for answers.. they are telling the sheep to be faithful, dedicated, self sacrificing, serving to the fullest, whole hearted and obedient.

Conclusion
by Esmeralda001 ini decided to put an end to my affiliation with the jws for good.
this decision is not the result of an irrational impulse.
it is quite the contrary.

Good for you Esmeralda,
Here is another great link for Bible research. I'm progressing well myself as well as I asked to be officially DA'ed earlier last week. Remember JW's do not have the monopoly on God, his Son nor the Bible.
Jesus was all about freedom and non conformity, this is what I find the most appealing about God's dear son.
Sorry about your friend at the hall, JW's excel at situations like these. All about fitting in and conforming to their rules.

The Hermit's story PART 4
by The Hermit inpart 4 1992-1994. after the events of april 1992 my dad went through a drastic change of attitude.
he would order as many books he could from the hall's library; the green insight books, bound volumes of past watchowers and awake magazines, interlinear greek scriptures, reasoning from the scritpures, the list goes on.
in those days you had to go to his special room he called his office if you wanted to find him, usually sitting at his desk with his nose in the wt books and writing stuff down on paper.

I went through a suicidal depression once, believe me you get to a point where you think no one can help you. Only the very best trained professionals are equipped to intervene. That and being indoctrinated in a cult makes things exponentially worst as you don't want to bring reproach to the Borg. Poor Jimmy was abandoned by his parents and supposed brothers. No offence to you new boy, was aimed at the Borg in general. RIP Jimmy hope to see you in paradise man.
